Eliminating the defender: deflection (1)

Some defenders guard mating squares.
Deflections are useful in these situations, too. If you succesfully chase away the defender, you can checkmate your opponent!
It is a great trick to win points.

In the example White forces a defender away from a mating square. Smart move!
